This is by far the best summation I have read regarding the constitutional issues in Egypt. I would also add that the second issue raised is one i think is the most important: the “secularists” need to get better at electoral politics. I think many of the liberal and secular groups objections about the process and President Morsi’s handling of the situation are accurate and deserve addressing. But, at the end of everything democracies are about elections. The Islamists are in a dominant position now because they have demonstrated a greater aptitude for turning their supporters out. The liberal and secular groups need to focus as much energy on preparing for the upcoming votes as they do on fighting the heavy-handed actions of President Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood.
